Soul of the City Neighborhood Grant Selection Night

Check out the Soul of the City Neighbourhood Grants, coming up on April 14th! See the text below for full event details, or click here to get your ticket.

Calgary Economic Development and The Calgary Foundation invite you to the 10th Soul of the City event, “Celebrating Community’ where we will celebrate community and active citizenship with you, our Soul of the City friends.

Whether you’ve been to all nine events or this is your first, we welcome you and your friends to help us celebrate the great community we live in and people that continue to make it great.

We asked Calgarians to apply for $5000 to put towards a project that will improve, enhance or engage their neighbourhood and on April 14 we want your help in awarding the grants.

Contenders vying for the Soul of the City Neighbour Grants will each deliver a short presentation about their great idea. Then the voting is up to you! You will select the five winners and the grants will be awarded.

We hope you’ll stay to celebrate the Soul of the City with us while enjoying beer from Village Brewery and some local entertainment by GET IT! a new Calgary seven piece soul/funk band featuring the vocals of Nicole Owen. GET IT! will play songs by Aretha Franklin,  Chaka Khan,  Bruno Mars, James Brown and Patti Labelle.

Emcee Angela Knight, CBC Calgary, will kick off the evening followed by an inspiring keynote by 17 year-old Sheliza Kassam, founder and president, Children’s Birthday Miracles. You will hear short presentations by the contenders vying for the Soul of the City Neighbour Grants. Then the voting is up to you! We hope you’ll stay to celebrate with us while enjoying beer from Village Brewery.
